Frequently Asked Questions
What is a Public Adjuster?
A public adjuster is a claims professional licensed through the state with very strict regulations. We are hired directly by the homeowner to represent their interests throughout the entire claims process. Unlike company adjusters or independent adjusters—who are paid by and work for the insurance carrier—a public adjuster’s sole duty is to the homeowner.
When should I hire a Public Adjuster?
Anytime during the claim process is fine; however, the best time to hire a public adjuster is from the very beginning. Hiring a public adjuster early prevents mistakes, protects your payout, it typically stops the insurer from controlling the narrative of your claim and usually has fewer delays and faster results.
My claim was denied / My claim was under my deductible or underpaid. Can you help us?
Yes, we can most likely help you. We expertly manage many claims that are denied, underpaid or under their deductible prior to our handling. Contact us for a free review of your claim documents and an inspection of your loss.
Can't I just use the Adjuster from the Insurance Company?
Yes. The Insurance Company will schedule a Company Adjuster or an Independent Adjuster to take photos and inspect your loss. Sometimes just an inspector, with no adjuster license, will be hired by the carrier or a third party to take photos and measure. None are Fiduciaries and do not work in your best interest, only a Public Adjuster does this.
If I don't hire a Public Adjuster then who decides the outcome of my claim?
In most cases, it's the Desk Adjuster that settles your claim. A Desk Adjuster works directly for the Insurance Company
or is an Independent Adjuster who contracts for the Insurance Company. Neither are a Fiduciary and do not work in your best interest. Also, the Desk Adjuster has never inspected your property to get a good visual on your claim. The Desk Adjuster ONLY relies on photos from the inspection, a report, and possibly an estimate and has limits.
How long does the average claim usually take?
A typical residential insurance claim in Florida takes approximately 75–120 days from start to finish. However, some claims may extend beyond this timeframe depending on the complexity of the loss, the need for additional insurance company inspections, or delays in receiving timely responses from the insurance carrier.
How does a Public Adjuster get paid?
Public Adjusters charge a small percentage of the total amount of the claim we collect for you. Public Adjusters work on a contingency and do not get paid until after you get a check from the insurance company. There are NO up front costs. No Recovery, No Fee.
Attached is an independent report showing how much more Florida homeowners typically recover when represented by a public adjuster. The analysis was conducted by the Office of Program Policy Analysis and Government Accountability (OPPAGA), the research arm of the Florida Legislature.
